The digitalization in the industry opens up new opportunities for an interconnected production - resulting in enormous effects on products, services and business models. A fourth industrial revolution due to these developments is forecasted by experts for the near future. The buzzwords “Smart Products”, “Smart Production” and “Smart Services” are not only vague trends but specific business potentials which can be used effectively by producing companies.
In order to define the concept of “Industrie 4.0” more precisely, the KEX Knowledge Exchange AG is seeking for partners for the second round of the consortium study “Facing the Smart Future: Smart Products, Production and Services” until 19th of April 2016. In October 2015, the first round of the consortium study started with the participation of over 20 leading companies form different industries, such as Audi, Covestro Germany, Alfred Kärcher and LG. Members of our expert network are the Fraunhofer Institute for Production Technology IPT, the Laboratory for Machine Tools and Production Engineering (WZL) of RWTH Aachen, the Institute for Industrial Management at RWTH Aachen and the Demonstration factory Aachen.
In cooperation with the most relevant players, this consortium study aspires to create economic and technological transparency about the aims and benefits of “Smart Products, Production and Services”. Furthermore transparency will be enhanced in key technologies and in according applications for production, products and services and on new business models and their profitability. Consortium partners are able to influence and direct the progress of the study through regular participation in workshops. Furthermore, the consortium will get exclusive access to all independent study results as well as to our expert network from research and industry.
